GENERAL
Which PC modes (ON/STANDBY/HIBERNATE/OFF) does the CSQUID work with?
- ON - In this mode, the CSQUID has 2 operational states - charge (GreenChg) and data (SyncChg). With the switch set to GreenChg, the device can be charged without any preinstalled software. With the switch set to SyncChg, the CSQUID works just like the cable supplied by the manufacturer and can both charge and sync data.
- STANDBY - In this mode, the CSQUID operates only in GreenChg setting. The PC must be able to provide USB power when the PC is in standby. Most new PCs can do this but you must verify it with the manufacturer.
- HIBERNATE - In most PCs the difference between hibernate and standby is that thehard drive is powered down. In this mode, the CSQUID operates only in GreenChg setting. The PC must be able to provide USB power when the PC is in hibernate. Most new PCs can do this but you must verify it with the manufacturer.
- OFF – In this mode, the complete system including USB power is shutdown and a CSQUID will not work in this mode.
Does CSQUID work on ALL desktops and notebooks that are in standby/ Hibernate?
As long as there is power on the USB port the CSQUID will work.
- DESKTOPS – Will usually provide USB power when the system is in standby/hibernate.
- NOTEBOOKS - Most new notebooks have a USB ALWAYS-ON mode that allows power to remain at the USB port even when the PC is in standby/hibernate. Some notebooks require the AC adapter to be connected for this feature to work. The USB ALWAYS-ON can be turned on through your BIOS or through external software. Contact your PC maker to ensure that the USB power can be left on in standby/hibernate. Older PCs however may not support this USB ON in standby/hibernate mode.
Does the device selection switch (microB/A or microB/miniB or microB/Tab) on CSQUID refer to the PC or to the portable device?
The setting on CSQUID refers to the portable device. Example for an Apple Device, the switch must be set in the ‘A’ mode. For a Samsung Galaxy Tab use Tab and for a micro-USB device use 'microB'. If the microB to miniB adapter is used - the micro setting is used.
What will happen if my A/microB setting does not match the device that is plugged in?
The Tab/A/microB/miniB setting selects the cable that can charge the device. Example if the setting is 'A', plugging a device into microB will have no effect and it will not charge.
Does the LED need to be ON in order for CSQUID to work?
YES – the LED being ON indicates that there is power on the USB port. If for whatever reason, the LED C is not turned on, the portable device cannot be expected to charge. This will mean that either your PC USB port is not set to operate in standby or it does not support charging in standby or that the USB port is faulty.
Is CSQUID worth buying even if I am not sure that my PC/portable device will allow charge in standby?
YES. The ability to charge in standby is just one feature. Other advantages include having a single cable for multiple devices and the having the ability to charge without having to install additional software.

APPLE MacTM PC
Can I use CSQUID on my Mac and expect it to work on a non-apple device like a Blackberry or MP3 player/cellphone?
YES (in most cases) but It will depends on which USB port is used. If you charge directly from the Mac itself there should be no issue. If you try to charge from the keyboard port or other device with an internal USB Hub, there may be a current-limit to prevent excess current from being drawn. If the device you are charging demands more current than is set allowed by the USB hub, you will get a message saying that too much current is being drawn and the port will shut down.
Do I need software like iTunesTM installed before I can charge my apple device?
NO. In the GreenChg modes, synchronization software from the portable device maker does not need to be installed.
Does CSQUID work on Apple notebooks, desktops and All-in-one PCs?
When the PC is turned on, CSQUID will work with any PC. When the PC is in standby/hibernate, CSQUID will work if your PC supports having the USB power present.

APPLE iPhoneTM and iPodTM
Can I switch between GreenChg and SyncChg when the Apple device is connected and operational?
All devices have some sort of enumeration mode to work with the PC. In order for this to take place properly, it is not recommended that you change modes with the device plugged in. You could lose data by changing modes in the middle of a transfer. You should unplug the device, set all switch settings and then plug in the device.
Will Apple devices charge when the switch is set to 'microB'?
NO. When the switch is set to 'microB', power is routed only to the micro-USB connector and the Apple side will not be functional
